he church, then named Triumph Mission, was established in 1965 under the leadership of the late great Mamie L. Stephenson.  Its first location was 647 Teach Street, Hampton, Virginia.  They remained at this location until 1970, when the Lord directed Pastor Stephenson to seek a larger edifice to accommodate her increasing congregation.  After a short period of time the Lord blessed Triumph Mission to purchase the former Church of God located at 3806 Roanoke Avenue, Newport News, Virginia.  Triumph Mission's name was now changed to Triumph Pentecostal Church of Deliverance.

n 1974, God called Pastor Stephenson home to be with Him and the membership unanimously voted Elder Joseph G. Snead Pastor of Triumph Pentecostal Church of Deliverance.  Elder Snead completed the vision given to his former Pastor because of her untimely death, as well as continuing to go forth in the accomplishment of the vision that God has given him.  He was consecrated to the office of Bishop in 1986.

ith the continuous growth in the membership God directed Bishop Snead to relocate to a larger edifice which would allow growth for the ministry and the vision.  In 1991 Triumph Pentecostal Church of Deliverance (in a parade) moved to our present location at 1811 Wickham Avenue, Newport News, Virginia with the seating capacity of 900.  At this current location, Dr. Snead (in 1995, received Honorary Doctor Of Divinity Degree) continues to oversee his churches, reach out to a needy community, and seek the ultimate will of the Lord by daily following His direction that the vision given by God will come to complete fruition.
